Double Diamond Sun Body is the pseudonym of  Los Angeles-based artist Robbie Williamson. Coming from a background in music and scoring films and television, Robbie experiments with sourced video and carefully crafted soundscapes to create experiential installations. Using large sculptural elements, such as septic tanks and hydro massage chairs, he cultivates a dissociative experience that investigates our culture from an extraterrestrial perspective. He addresses themes of our current political landscape, religion, and family.

About  S A N C T U A R Y

In response to the contentious immigration debate taking hold, Future Tongue art collective is collaborating with local theater company New Guard to investigate the concept of personal and cultural sanctuary. This multi-sensory installation is composed of large scale sculpture, painting, and photography, video and sound and live performance.

The gallery has been divided into for enclosures, the keys of which have been handed off to five visual artists to transform into a representation of their sanctuary. The exhibition will set the environment for and immersive theater performance choreographed by Tess Hewlett. Exchanges involving dance and spoken word will continually move throughout the gallery, creating a visceral bond between the audience and the art.

Sanctuary features installations by Monica Canilao, Double Diamond Sun Body, Future Tongue [ Britt Harrison + B. Justine Jaime], and Frohawk Two Feathers. Performance by Lindsey Garrett, Tess Hewlett, Alex Metz and Nick Thurston. Poetry by Jeremy Radin.
